Written Communication

Summary

One way of supporting ongoing communication is through the use of brief notes that are sent home, sometimes as often as every day. Ideally, these reports should be brief and honest, and they should contain more good news than bad. Think, why would a parent want to keep reading unremittingly bad news about their children? There must be something good going on that can be integrated with the less positive news.

Daily Reports: Provide a brief daily record of a student's performance in all academic areas. (Sample 1)

Communication Logs: These may include information on a wide range of areas, and can be used to provide more details about specific incidents (both positive and negative!) (Sample 2)
